Congratulations! You're engaged! For a whole two to three days it is pure joy, and then, you start looking into wedding venues and think "oh dang, that's a little expensive." All when you haven't even taken a glance into the endless realm of wedding vendors. Diving into the wedding industry can be an earth shaking experience. Let me try to help.
Let's go over some of the most simple ways to save money while still have a beautiful and extravagant wedding.
Tip #1 - Saturday "Smaturday"
Pick a different day! Quick and easy to say the least. Any other day of the week is going to make your entire planning process easier and cheaper.
Tip #2 - Forget About that Rehearsal Dinner
You are already planning a giant party for everyone that you love, you do not need to plan a second one. While rehearsal dinners often have less than half of your wedding attendees, you still need all the elements: catering, decor, venue, and some more beautiful clothing.
Consider skipping the rehearsal all together, just do a quick run through of your processional and recessional order. It won't be missed by your guests, and gives you time to relax.
"Weddings can be expensive enough as it is, and with the pressure to put on yet another fancy dinner on top of what you have planned, it can be costly and added stress." - Bridal Musings
Tip #3 - Casual Bites
Food trucks can feel fancy, and catering can be less expensive. It can be as simple as ordering catering from your favorite restaurant, places like Chipotle, Panda Express, even McDonalds.
You can even pick your favorite date night spot to make it personal, order the food, and have a small staff serve it as a plated meal. It will give a personal touch and make it feel so elegant.
Tip #4 - Dessert Galore
There is truly no need to splurge on a four tier cake, draped in white fondant, and covered head to toe in edible gems. Instead try a dessert table or a donut wall, it often pleases more of your guests pallets and come at a significant pricing difference.
Tip #5 - Hire a Wedding Planner
You may think that this is completely counterintuitive, but let me explain. Who knows the best ways to save money? Who has all the vendor hookups? Who can get some amazing discounts?
Not to mention, a wedding planner is your budgeting czar. All you need to do is give them your price point and let them find the best way to manage everything around that, while keeping you sane in the process.
There is so much more!
Think outside the box, DIY and personalization can make your day feel special. When you look back at your photos it gives you an even deeper appreciation for everything that you accomplished.
